Our Little Kristen Got Her Wings Today

It is with much sorrow and joy at the same time that we share with you that our little angel got her wings this morning around 8:30. She passed peacefully from the arms of her parents to the peace and comfort of the arms of Jesus. Between the hole in her heart and her chromosomal disorder which is usually not compatible with life she was very fragile and we got to cherish every minute we had with her.

We appreciate your prayers as we start this new life with its many new challenges. We know it is going to be a hard journey and will be taking it one day at a time. We have so many friends and family surrounding us and we are so thankful we're not alone. In light of that, we are hoping to arrange a "quite time" at our home for the sake of Katelynn's naps and a little down time for us between noon and 4pm each day.

We were blessed with a friend who took some amazing photos of our last moments with our little angel and we hope to share those and our story with you on our blog. Until then you can see some photos at www.doulapattiramos.blogspot.com

We're hoping to send more details and updates soon, but we just got home and wanted to at least give you a quick update. Thank you.
Love, Kevin and Tara

  4. Dear Sweet Balcom family,
I wanted to share a tender moment I had with Josie this morning after I heard the news of your precious Kristen's passing....

Josie was curious about what was happening, so I explained to her, "there was a little baby girl who went to be with Jesus this morning." Immediately her face lit up with tremendous joy! "With Jesus!?" she exclaimed. I was a bit surprised at her enthusiasm, so then I went on to explain that "her mommy and daddy are very sad because they will miss their little baby girl." With the biggest smile on her face - and without hesitation, she replied, "But now JESUS will take care of the little baby!"

We can all use a little child-like faith at times like this! I am so thankful Kristen is safely home in the arms of Jesus and I believe she had a joyous welcoming from my little peanut and my sweet nephew, Josiah! Can't wait to see them again!! And SO thankful for the promise that we will!

We love you and are here for you!
    Love, Holly Alexander

  5. Dear Kevin and Tara:

Please know that my prayers and those of our whole Community are with you at this time of great sorrow. There will be a requiem Mass being said this evening for Kristen at St. Aiden's Church in Halifax with the Bishop Craig Botteril presiding. I will have photos taken and send them to you. Also Bishop Donald Harvey will be offering the sacrifice of the Holy Mass for Kristen in Australia and another priest, Fr. Jeff Roy has also stated that he will be offering Mass for her as well. I send you my love and my deepest condolences in your loss. I look forward to seeing you when I return home for Dad's memorial in October. I have some things for you which I want to give you in person, and so I shall look forward to seeing you then. May the peace of Christ be with you now and always.

    Much Love,
    Sr. Julie Walker, SSC

  6. Kevin and Tara, Many, many times in the past few days the four of you have been in my thoughts and prayers, the two of you as parents, Katelynn, and precious little Kristin. The urge to visit with you at the hospital was strong, but I felt my place was here at home, keeping you in my thoughts and praying for both of you. I felt that you needed your space and privacy at this time, and did not want to be in the way. Please know though that you have never been far from my mind. Looking at the pictures of sweet little Kristin I began to cry. She is truly a miracle and a testament to the wonderful beauty that God can create for us all! This seems such a hard thing for us all, especially since were so looking forward to her birth as a way to help heal us all since the loss of our father... having the new life begin as the other ended. To the right of my screen as I write this is a picture of darling Katelynn, and I am so grateful for the life we have in her that we are allowed to share in. She is truly a blessing for this family. I want to wait a few days and allow the two of you your privacy, and time to yourselves, then I want to call you and tell you how much I love the both of you and how much your really mean to me!

I love all three of you!
