Hard to believe we only have 9 weeks left! We're into single digits, folks!!
We were without a home computer for a couple of weeks so here's the updates in case you were curious!
Week 30:
Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)
Week 31:
This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. She weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. She can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin. She's moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.
And in true form, last week the braxton hicks started! (for both Katelynn and Kristen I had them for the last 2 months) Sometimes they're not too bad, other times I need to take a moment to either sit down, change position or just breath. Some people complain about them but I welcome them! They mean my body knows what to do and is warming up for game time! Woo-hoo!
But I have to be careful what I saw about how I feel because I have a little imitator watching my every move! Last week Katelynn complained of a tummy ache all morning but didn't think she should stay home from school. (normally, if she's REALLY not feeling well, she's okay to stay home.) I was worried that she'd tell her teachers that she was sick and they'd want me to come get her. Then we finally discovered why her tummy hurt so bad...."the baby was kicking her and turning around" and it hurt! Then the next day she said her hip, back, tummy and jaw were all hurting. With relaxin running through my body (the hormone that helps ligaments to relax) I've been pretty uncomfortable lately and apparently she's picking up on every discomfort!
But all in all we're doing well and super excited to meet Baby Ashely! But in due time...I have been reminded a number of times that currently she's "low maintenance" and in a few weeks it will change forever! Even when she is doing somersaults in the middle of the night, I find a little bit of enjoyment in it because it just a few weeks, I won't feel that any more. I've heard it said before: "Instead of wishing away 9 months of pregnancy (which is really almost 10 months - it's 40 weeks!) I want to cherish every moment and realize that the wonderment growing inside me is the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle."
Wow! 9 weeks?! She's going to be here in no time :)
